The Human Library®
A library of people. One conversation at a time. The Human Library® creates safe spaces for open dialogue, where people can challenge prejudice, stigma, and stereotypes through honest conversation.
About the Human Library®
The Human Library® is, in the true sense of the word, a library of people.
At our events, readers can borrow human books and engage in conversations they would not normally have access to.
Each human book represents a group in society that is often subjected to prejudice, stigmatization, or discrimination due to lifestyle, diagnosis, belief, disability, social status, ethnic origin, and more.
Founded in 2000, the Human Library® is a non-profit learning platform with more than two decades of experience creating personal conversations designed to challenge stigma and stereotypes.

A Worldwide Movement for Social Change
The mission of the Human Library® is to support Human Library programs and book depot services globally. By raising funds, we build more book collections, host more events, and reach even more readers—one conversation at a time.
